❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to register with a partner? No. Everyone registers individually. MKMM will allocate partners for the preliminary matches and for the knockout stage.

How are pairs selected? Preliminary pairs are randomly or strategically allocated so you play with a different partner in each match. For the knockout stage, qualified players are paired based on their preliminary ranking (for example Rank 1 + Rank 8, Rank 2 + Rank 7, etc.).

How many matches will I play? You will play 3 preliminary doubles matches. If you qualify, you will then play in the knockout stage (quarter-finals, semi-finals and final).

How are individual scores calculated? In each match, both players in the winning pair receive 1 win. We also record the actual match score for all four players. Your total wins, points for, points against and point difference are added across your 3 matches.

How are players ranked in the group?

  1. Most Wins. 2. Best Point Difference (Points For − Points Against). 3. Most Points For. If there is still a tie, the organisers may use additional tie-break criteria.

How many players qualify for the knockouts? The highest-ranked players in each category will qualify. The exact number will depend on the total registrations in that category.

Will Junior Boys and Junior Girls play separately? Junior registrations are open to both boys and girls aged 12–17. The final junior grouping and tournament structure will be decided based on the number of registrations received. Where participation numbers allow, separate Boys and Girls categories may be organised. MKMM will confirm the final junior format before the tournament.

Are there mixed doubles? No. Adult categories will be Men's doubles and Women's doubles. Junior grouping will be confirmed based on registrations.
